sometimes in the fall

first things first, I’m the realest (realest)…just jokes, but I added some fancy stuff on the right, so you should follow my blog!

once my birthday passes, I crave crisp air, bright leaves, and the threat of snow on the horizon. I also crave decorative gourds and tons of pumpkins, but because we are surrounded by 12 million children that like to punt balls across our front lawn, and climb all over our steps, I decided against them. also, because Ben implemented a “one new decoration per holiday” rule, and I foolishly bought Halloween window clings. I know, I know, rookie mistake. (note for readers: Ben rescinded his holiday decoration rule shortly after its creation. he’s not a Scrooge.) so, time to break out the cinnamon and sweaters! it has been so nice to wake up to a cozy house with what I’m sure will pretty soon become frosted windows. it makes a cup of coffee taste that much better, even though I suck at making coffee.

without declaring that I had a fall bucket list, I definitely had a fall bucket list. it wasn’t long and extravagant, but I compiled a list of activities I knew that I would love and that Ben wouldn’t hate. it’s all about compromise. and pizza. and wine.

we went and picked apples and pumpkins…
It was really bright, and Ben didn't have sunglasses.

we will close October by eating pumpkin-shaped pizza on Friday (surprise, Ben!) and we will drink dark wine that looks like blood, because festive. and Friday. we always eat pizza on Fridays.

basic or not, I’m always 100% in when it comes to holidays and traditions. we’ve definitely been enjoying this time of year before we go into hibernation for the winter. does anyone else think this winter is going to be abominable? because it might be the winter I don’t make it through. RIP Becca. but, in the meantime, I’m excited about how much we have to look forward to in November, visits with friends and family, and I obviously can’t wait to make cranberry sauce, watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and cuddle on the couch after eating entirely too much. here’s to holidays, memories, and sweet, sweet love.
